The Story Behind CareConnect: The Founder’s Journey
We’re Salam, Louis, and Murat—three friends who crossed paths in the oil and gas world, settled in Aberdeen, and bonded over something much deeper than work: a shared passion for people, community, and making life better for families like ours.
We come from different cultures, careers, and parenting journeys—but what unites us is our belief that support shouldn’t be complicated, and that connection is everything.
We’re not just engineers—we’re problem-solvers, optimists, and yes, occasional table Pool rivals. Together, we’re building something real, something hopeful, and something we truly believe will make a difference.

How It All Started
It began like many good things do—in conversation. We’d head out to Union Street, find a cosy café, and talk. Sometimes it was about work, other times the world, often the things that kept us up at night—like how hard it was to find the right support for our families, especially for our neurodivergent kids.
Those chats turned into regular hangouts, and those hangouts turned into something more: a shared drive to find solutions.
One day, it clicked. Why not build something ourselves?
That was the spark. A few years ago, we made a decision that would change everything: we were going to create a solution for families like ours.
With the help of the brilliant minds at Hyper, we took our idea from Notes and doodles to prototypes—shaping a platform designed by real people, for real people. They helped us take the heart of CareConnect and give it form and function.
What Brings Us Together
It’s the passion, yes—but also the people.
Aberdeen’s startup community welcomed us with open arms. The families we spoke to, the organizations doing incredible grassroots work—they fueled our purpose. We saw how CareConnect could serve them all.
Whether it’s an overwhelmed parent, a small business with a powerful product, or a local charity needing a better way to connect—this app brings it all together. And we’re just getting started.

We live in a time where funding for social care is stretched thin, and unpaid carers are often left without consistent support. We believe CareConnect offers a much-needed alternative.
